Free From Festival in Bristol
In early March, I had the absolute joy of attending the Free From Festival in Bristol, UK — a dream event for anyone living gluten-free or dairy-free.
The festival featured an amazing range of safe and delicious food: artisan bread, pizza, snacks, chocolate, desserts, and street food — all gluten- and dairy-free, made by small producers who truly care about quality and ingredients.
There were also some well-known gluten-free brands present, like Warburtons, White Rabbit, and of course Schar. It was such a treat to try new, safe products and sample some truly delicious bakes — especially that they aren’t available in my country. Let’s just say… my suitcase came home a little fuller than it left. 😉
There were also inspiring talks and live demos by coeliac dietitians and gluten-free bloggers. Topics covered everything from symptom management to cooking tips and travelling gluten-free — practical, relatable, and super helpful.
One of the most special parts? Meeting people I’ve known and admired online. It felt amazing to connect in real life with fellow coeliacs who’ve inspired me through blogs, social media, and support groups. Sharing laughs, hugs, and conversations with these familiar faces made the whole experience even more meaningful.
Most of all, I loved the sense of community. Surrounded by people who just get it — no awkward explanations, no stress, just understanding and joy.
Tickets for the festival were available in various options – morning, afternoon, full-day, and two-day passes. The event was exceptionally well organized. Despite the large number of attendees, everything ran smoothly and the atmosphere remained relaxed – everyone could enjoy the attractions comfortably and without crowding. Each ticket also included a complimentary juice or gluten-free beer. As the number of tickets for each session was limited, it’s highly recommended to purchase them online in advance to secure your spot.
This year, the Free From Festival will still take place in two more cities: London in May and Birmingham in September
If you ever get the chance to visit the Free From Festival, do it! It’s not just about safe food — it’s about belonging.

While in Bristol, I couldn’t resist doing a bit of sightseeing too. I didn’t have a lot of time, but I think I managed to catch a glimpse of the city’s spirit and atmosphere.
Did you know? Bristol is the hometown of Banksy.
This world-famous — and still anonymous — street artist began his career right here, and his work can still be found across the city. Banksy is known for his bold, thought-provoking pieces that blend dark humour with strong social and political messages.
I stayed at the Leonardo Hotel, which I can wholeheartedly recommend. It was conveniently located just a short walk from the Free From Festival venue, and perfect for coeliacs! They offer tasty gluten-free breakfast options, including a dedicated section with bread, cereals, and other safe choices. The staff was well-informed about coeliac needs, and there was even a QR code you could scan to double-check allergen info yourself — such a thoughtful touch.
